Japanese medicine used to treat new flu strains has shown potential to be successful in clinical trials against the coronavirus. The antiviral drug favipiravir, manufactured by a Fujifilm subsidiary, has shown promising results in clinical trials, medical authorities in China claim.


 
Separately, China has approved the sale of the first potential drug to treat the infection, Favipiravir, after good clinical trials. A pharmaceutical company in Zhejiang Province has begun manufacturing the drug, and the company says clinical testing will continue.
